SUMMER
CAMP
Some kids come home from summer camp with a lanyard. Little Potters come home with a bowl they made with their own hands.
Little Potters is a themed weekly art and pottery camp for kids ages 5 to 9 at ATELIER Ceramic Studio in Miami's MiMo district. Every week has a new theme, a new project, and a new reason to get messy. Kids work with clay, paint, and a rotating mix of hands-on art activities — all in a real working ceramic studio with a real instructor who loves what she does.
No experience needed. Just curiosity, a willingness to get clay on your hands, and a smock.
What a week looks like:
We start every week with clay. Kids get their hands into the material, build something connected to the week's theme, and work on it across the first part of the week — pinching, coiling, rolling slabs, adding texture and details until the piece feels finished and fully theirs.
From there we transition into color. Kids paint and decorate their own pieces using underglaze, then shift into a bisque painting session where they work on pre-made ceramic pieces tied to the theme — mugs, plates, figurines — and bring them to life with color and pattern.
We close every Friday with a take-home same-day art activity. Canvas painting, watercolor, tote bag decorating, rock painting, and more — something they walk out the door with that day, no kiln required.
Every week is self-contained. Kids can join for one week or come back all summer — each theme is completely different so there is always something new to discover, make, and take home.
What's included every week: — All clay, tools, glazes, and studio materials — Monday through Friday sessions, 10am to 1pm — Theme-tied projects across pottery and art — Kiln firing for all clay pieces — Fired pieces ready for pickup 2 to 3 weeks after the session ends — Friday take-home activity — no kiln needed, they leave with it that day

Studio Artists is a themed weekly pottery camp for tweens and older kids ages 8 to 13 at ATELIER Ceramic Studio in Miami's MiMo district. Three afternoons a week, students work with clay at a level that respects their age and their intelligence — building more complex forms, learning real hand-building techniques, and finishing pieces they are genuinely proud of.
Every week has a new theme and a new set of projects. Students who come back week after week build a real body of work across the summer.
What a week looks like:
We start the week with clay. Students build an ambitious hand-building project connected to the week's theme — slab-built forms, coil vessels, sculptural pieces, lidded boxes — techniques that take focus and patience and produce something that looks and feels like it came from a real studio.
Midweek we go deeper. A second clay project tied to the same theme — different technique, different form, building range and confidence. Some weeks this is sgraffito, some weeks relief carving, some weeks a purely sculptural build. The work gets more complex as the summer progresses.
We close the week by bringing color to Monday's piece. Students paint and underglaze their first project of the week, making decisions about palette, pattern, and finish that are entirely their own. On weeks where the clay needs more drying time, Friday shifts into a theme-tied painting activity on canvas or paper — always connected to where we are in the summer.
Every week is self-contained. Students can join for one week or build across the whole summer — each theme is completely different and the projects never repeat.
What's included every week:
— All clay, tools, glazes, and studio materials
— Monday, Wednesday, and Friday sessions, 2:00pm to 6:00pm
— Theme-tied clay projects across three techniques per week
— Kiln firing for all clay pieces
— Fired pieces ready for pickup 2 to 3 weeks after the session ends

A note on age placement: Studio Artists is designed for ages 8 to 13. Students on the younger end of that range are placed at instructor discretion based on maturity and creative readiness — not just their birthday. If your child is 8 or 9 and you are not sure which program is the right fit, email us before booking and we will help you decide.
Interested in wheel throwing? Studio Artists is a hand-building program — no wheel throwing. If your tween wants to learn the wheel, our Wheel Throwing Intensive runs Tuesday and Thursday afternoons separately and is available as an add-on or standalone course for ages 10 to 16.

Wheel Throwing Intensive is a focused 2-week ceramics course designed for teens ages 10 to 16 who want to learn a real skill — not just make a project. At ATELIER Ceramic Studio in Miami's MiMo district, your teen will learn to center clay, open a form, pull the walls, trim their piece, and apply glaze. From raw clay to a finished, fired bowl or vessel they take home.
What's included in every block:
— 4 throwing sessions (Tuesday + Thursday, 2–4pm) over 2 weeks
— 1 glazing + painting session (the following Thursday)
— All clay, tools, glazes, and studio materials
— Kiln firing — both bisque and glaze fire
— Up to 6 fired and glazed pieces to take home
— Finished pieces ready for pickup approximately 2 weeks after the paint session
How the course works:
Week 1 — Your teen gets on the wheel. We cover centering and opening the clay, the two hardest skills to learn — and the most satisfying to crack. Most students throw their first recognizable form by Thursday.
Week 2 — We refine the form, practice trimming leather-hard pieces, and each student completes their final pieces. By the end of Week 2, every student leaves with a collection of work they're proud of.
Week 3 (Paint Day) — Students return on Thursday to glaze and paint their bisque-fired pieces. This is the payoff session — seeing what they made transformed by color and glaze is genuinely exciting.
After the glaze fire — Finished pieces are ready for pickup approximately 2 weeks after the paint session. We'll email you as soon as they're ready.
A note on this course: The wheel is humbling. It takes patience. Your hands will get covered in clay and not everything will go the way you planned — and that's exactly the point. Teens who take this course leave with more than a ceramic piece. They leave knowing they figured something hard out.
