About the experience
The wheel is the most physical way to work with clay. A lump of clay becomes a form beneath your hands, slowly, then all at once. It takes patience, and it rewards it.
In a private session, nothing moves faster than you do. Your teacher sits beside you, shows you how it feels, and steadies the first moments, then lets you find the rhythm yourself.
The wheel is a practice of repetition. A package of four or eight sessions is where your hands begin to learn.
Your pieces are glazed and fired by our team, and ready a few weeks later.
Class details
Duration: 2 hours
Who: Ages 12 and up. One person, or two, each at their own wheel. A second person is $75 more per session.
When: Monday to Friday, between 10am and 5pm. Sessions finish by 5pm. We’ll coordinate a time with your teacher.
Where: ATELIER Ceramic Studio, 753 NE 79th Street, Miami, FL 33138
Pickup: Two to three weeks after your last session. We’ll email you when your pieces are ready.
What’s included
Two hours of one-on-one time with your teacher. Use of the wheel. Up to four pounds of low-fire clay per session. Tools and an apron. Clear glaze and firing by our team. Help with cleanup at the end. You’ll rinse your own tools.
Sessions and packages
A single session is a good place to begin. Packages are for when you want to keep going. Choose four or eight sessions, once or twice a week, and we’ll set a standing time with your teacher. Use four sessions within eight weeks, and eight within twelve.
If you’d like to glaze in color, choose a package. One session becomes a glazing session, scheduled once your earlier pieces have been fired. Pieces made right before it are clear-glazed by our team. Our team doesn’t trim pieces. If you’d like to trim yours, you can use one of your sessions for it. Otherwise, every session is for making.
Rescheduling
Plans change. Let us know at least 48 hours ahead and we’ll move your session. With less notice, the session is used.
